Witchfinder General Letterpress Greeting Card

A Glimpse into Scotland’s Witch Hunt History

Inspired by the haunting history of witch hunts in Scotland, the Witchfinder General card reflects a powerful story from a turbulent past. During the 16th and 17th centuries, Scotland experienced one of Europe’s most intense periods of witch trials, where fear and superstition led to the accusation and tragic execution of many, especially in the late 1500s and mid-1600s. The title “Witchfinder General” refers to those who were appointed to hunt alleged witches, leaving a chilling legacy that still resonates today.

Handcrafted Letterpress Printing in Glasgow

This card is beautifully printed using traditional letterpress techniques by Passenger Press, a Glasgow-based studio passionate about preserving the art of hand-printing. Each card is carefully created in small batches on thick, eco-friendly, 350gsm textured paper milled in the UK. The process uses antique presses, giving every card a unique tactile quality and depth of colour that modern printing cannot match.

Sustainable Materials & Thoughtful Packaging

Passenger Press blends heritage craftsmanship with sustainability, ensuring their cards not only look stunning but are kind to the planet. Each card comes with a brown kraft envelope and a protective sleeve, ready to send or gift. Measuring A6 (10.5 x 14.8 cm), this card offers a meaningful way to share history, reflection, or simply a striking visual with friends or loved ones.
